Vogue says: ‘The best style podcasts communicate why clothes matter – whether that’s the cultural history that informs them, the machinations of the broader industry that produces them, or the simple (or not-so-simple) appeal of the trends that make you want to buy more of them.’
Here are six of our favourites.
The Business Of Fashion Podcast
With its high-profile guests, up-to-speed content and passionate host, this ‘indispensable’ weekly podcast has a global following. It brims with knowledge and authority, offering crucial insight into what makes the fashion world tick, how to navigate fast-paced change in the industry and ways we can address fashion’s impact on the planet. Listen here.
The Run-Through With Vogue
If you’re the type of listener who wants to know what it feels like behind the scenes at The Met Gala, what Karl Lagerfeld ate for dinner in front of the TV and how Jessie Buckley created her punky red-carpet style, this weekly half-hour show is for you. Listen here.
Style By Mary Michele
US coach Mary Michele Nidiffer makes it her business to empower women through their personal style. Her brilliant twice weekly podcast advises mid-lifers on what to wear and how to wear it. Perky episode topics include ‘Style secrets your mother never taught you” and “10 habits that are sabotaging your style’ and ‘What to pack for your next trip to Europe’. Genius. Listen here.
Monocle On Design
This weekly podcast from the clever people at Monocle magazine focusses on all elements of design, from furniture to fashion. Listeners can expect intelligent discussion among guest designers, curators and thinkers from all over the world about the interplay between fashion and culture. We particularly love the episode in which Luke Edward Hall shines a light on his homeware and fashion brand, Chateau Orlando. Listen here.
The Gucci Podcast
Gucci has rarely been far from the cutting edge since it was founded in Florence in 1921 so it is no surprise that the fashion giant offers a great podcast today. In each episode, we hear from the creatives who collaborate to keep the label fresh, inspired and beloved. Listen here.
Wardrobe Icons Iconversations
This fortnightly podcast began in 2019 and lasted just one short year before it sadly ceased. The 13-episode back catalogue is well worth a listen, however. Each slot comprises an interview with a stylish industry insider in connection with a particular word – like “honesty”, ‘influence’ and acceptance. The episode in which Wardrobe Icons co-founder Laura Fantacci talks to Deborah Brett about ‘perfection’ is truly excellent. Listen here.
