Begin Again
I am a 1990s child, so Davina McCall has been on my screens from Street Mate all the way through the Big Brother years and out the other side. I love her bravery, honesty and the powerful subject matter that she covers in ‘Begin Again’ a series where she covers a host of mid-life quandaries from health to sex, identity, menopause and mental wellness.
The News Agents
I love this as my morning dog walk listen - I don’t have a chance to catch up on world events first thing but this daily podcast is a measured analysis of current affairs by journalists, Emily Matlis, Jon Sopel and Lewis Goodall. It feels astute, bite-size and a great way to stay informed, on-the-go.
Girls That Invest
Financial literacy is something that I really want to focus on this year. After too long with my head in the sand as ‘I’m no good at maths’, this feels like money for dummies, covering all the basics to help me get started with understanding investing, budgets and changing my money mindset. Why don’t they teach this stuff at school?!
Ladies Who Launch?
An inspiring listen from Rochelle Humes. Each week she sits on the couch with a successful female entrepreneur to hear how they built their empires. Every story of success has its twists and turns and, of course, each has nuggets of wisdom to take away. A great listen for any businesswomen looking for inspiration.
Mel Robbins
Not a new one – in fact, it’s the #1 podcast in the world – but Mel Robbins’ series is such a reassuring voice that she’s never off my playlist. I love her easy balance between science-backed research and real-life wisdom. A mix of therapy, optimism and good old-fashioned life advice that always helps me find perspective and leaves me enriched.
Glad We Had This Chat
One that always has me chuckling as I walk the dog is Caroline Hirons’ ‘Glad We Had This Chat’. It feels like a brilliantly uplifting girly chat in the loos; conspiratorial, frank, warm and gossipy in the best way. Caroline pulls on her enviable little black book to interview A-listers and industry experts in the world of beauty, skincare and beyond.
The Rest is History
I love the fact that podcasts can transport you into a whole other world – or time in the case of ‘The Rest is History’. Listening for the last few months has filled in so many (embarrassing) blanks in my own history knowledge in an engaging and fascinating listen. Great for long car journeys and wannabe history buffs.
