Fuss-free functionality and elegant understatement are the guiding principles of the Scandinavian design tradition across product, fashion and interiors. The other onus is on natural materials – think wood and wool – and a soothing palette of colours. There are many shops that purport to purvey Scandi style. But for the best of them all, it is important to look to those who uphold these tenets of design and the focus on nature like they’re a religion.

We’ve rounded up the ones we love all year round – but never more so than in the winter. After all, properly done, Scandi-style interiors can almost convince us that we are, in fact, keeping toasty by the fireside inside a log cabin on the edge of a Norwegian forest while outside the snow flutters down. Almost.
