Getting ready to have house guests again? Some new homeware brands stand out from the rest, and as we get used to entertaining in our homes and gardens this summer, Rebecca Udall is a small independent label you will want to shop at.
A luxury direct to consumer brand founded in 2019, the website specialies in customisable bed and table linens of the highest quality as well as tableware, including stylish placemats, napkins, Murano glasses and tablecloths . The shop doesn't have a bricks and mortar store, but has been holding pop ups in collaboration with other stores this summer.
Based in the North Yorkshire countryside, founder Rebecca has exceptional eye for quality, and founded the company after struggling to find exceptional bed linen at a fair price.
Upon leaving university she wanted to become a homeware buyer and her first foray into textiles was a role in a bed and bath linens buying team, developing a passion for not only for a good thread count, but also for high-quality raw materials This helped her gain an understanding of the industry and gave her the perfect starting point to source her very first collection.
With an approach to luxury based on provenance, design, quality, longevity and ethics, Rebecca spends a lot of time researching and sourcing the very best artisan makers and family-owned heritage manufacturers, supporting communities and craftsmanship. Her products are mostly European and offer good value for money as the brand ethos is based on longevity with pieces made to last and cherished forever.
When choosing linen, she prefers to select from Italian and Irish weavers because of the fantastic knowledge and attention to detail.
Drawn to an eclectic mix of classic European style, in a tablescape, she loves to juxtapose the minimalist look of Danish candles, with softer, romantic ruffles, and all against the backdrop of geometric plates.
The drinkware, cutlery and candles work well in a variety of settings – a casual week night supper or more formal Friday night dinner. I particularly love the handcrafted rattan chargers, which look timeless on any dining table, and who could resist these adorable duck glasses.
When it comes to colour, Rebecca works across three broad themes. Each collection balances neutral tones such as taupe and white, with classics such as green, pale pink and navy. The final flourish comes from more fashion-inspired hues such as lilac, olive green or amber.
Scalloped edged towels can all be customised with your personal colours to match your home the ultimate luxury!
