Everyone has that one friend who just seems to find unusual and unique pieces with an infuriatingly nonchalant ease and effortless style. Chances are, then, that these shops are lurking somewhere in their little black books. These are the ones we love – and the pieces we’d buy for our dream house.

Little Black Book: The Interior Design Shops That The Cognoscenti Adore
Want to know where the interior designers shop? These beautiful boutiques are some of the most exquisite in London.
Margit Wittig
We first came across lovely Margit through the interior designer, Alice Leigh. Margit is a sculptor and painter who makes THE most exquisite bespoke lighting and furniture. We want it all.
Howe London
One of our favourite shops on Pimlico Road, Christopher Howe sources antiques from all over the world as well as selling the incredible ‘Made By Howe’ furniture and lighting collection.
Trove
Set up by interior design firm Studio Duggan, this wonderful shop nestled away in Notting Hill, is a feast for the eyes.
Pentreath & Hall
This wonderful shop was set up by renowned architectural and interior designer, Ben Pentreath along with Bridie Hall, decorative artist and maker of seriously beautiful things. One of our favourites to peruse.
Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler
Founded in the 1930s, Sibyl Colefax & John Fowler is the longest established interior decorating firm in Great Britain. Sibyl’s pioneering approach to blending the old with the new is today interpreted by seven designers and supported by an architectural interior designer. Another one of our Pimlico Road picks.
Sauce London
We love this London-based online store for its utterly unique pieces. They source from across Europe with a focus on unusual pieces, chosen for their aesthetic and craftmanship.
The New Craftsmen
This online shop was established in 2012 as a platform for finely crafted wares made by artisans of the British Isles. If you are after a special, stand-out piece of furniture, then look no further.
Hadeda
Hadeda was founded by Kate Kindersley, who grew up between Africa and the UK. You can immediately see the influence in all the beautiful pieces that she has carefully chosen and sourced from artisans and co-ops worldwide.
Rose Uniacke
Rose Uniacke set up her interior design shop to run alongside her hugely successful interior design business. Rose has a very distinctive style – think calm neutral, chalky walls and a simple velvet, jewel coloured sofa. Dreamy.
