Candlesticks instantly transform a table into a special place for entertaining and it is the item that Issy Granger, a London based furniture and homeware brand has become most known for.
Designed by Issy and made by skilled craftsmen and women both in the U.K. and around the world, the eclectic and joyful pieces vary, from incredibly soft and comforting Merino Lambswool Throws to fine Handblown Glass Candlesticks.
Both her mother and grandmother are artists, and with a life long love of designing and making things she always planned to one day turn this creativity into a brand. Issy began by making furniture in her parent’s shed for a few years before branching out into designing her own homeware pieces, enjoying the process from conception to realisation. Once she has sketched out her ideas, she takes these drawings to the talented makers and manufacturers who breathe life into her pencil sketches and transform them into the stunning finished creations.
The colourful collection of glass candlesticks are mouth-blown and hand-painted by artisans in Cairo. No two are quite the same and were designed in celebration of Egypt’s rich history of glassblowing dating back over 3000 years. This skill has travelled down through the centuries, and the modern-day artisans continue the craft that has been passed down the generations.
Borosilicate glass is incredibly light and delicate yet able to withstand amazingly high temperatures.
