Back to school, back to work, and with a new season comes a couple of new product launches for British shirt brand With Nothing Underneath. September brings a Poplin in a beautiful pink colour, and at the start of October, their new Brushed cotton collection will be available.
As we notice the temperature dropping slightly, a shirt continues as a staple wardrobe item, bridging the transition between summer dresses and the re-entering of coats.
WNU was created to make the perfect everyday affordable boyfriend shirt. Designed in London by former Vogue stylist and Tatler editor Pip Durell, she was inspired by men's tailoring and started the business after she couldn’t find the perfect shirt. Combining her fashion knowledge and styling credentials in 2017, it was Pip’s personal mission to create the ultimate button-down shirt that had to be sustainably sourced and stand the test of time.
Taking inspiration from the style of the early 90’s as well as the effortless and elegant jeans, shirts and blazers uniform of the Paris Vogue editors every season, the aim was to achieve a design for women that don't want to rotate trends but remain timeless.
When The Duchess of Sussex visited Smart Works, a UK charity for which she is a patron, she wore a pair of jeans, Aquazzura heels, and a WNU shirt.
With Nothing Underneath is a business with a social responsibility to educate their customer on where their products come from. As of 2020, their shirts are 100% organic. Using the highest quality materials, in 4 different natural fabrics they want the shirts to have longevity - Brushed, Linen, Poplin and Weave
I love the Poplin fabric which is the original, classic tailored shirt - a staple for zoom meetings, with the top button undone and a necklace.
The coffee colour is perfect to match with trousers of the same shade in winter or blue / white jeans.
A laid back, timeless, wardrobe essential, Pip doesn’t see the company veering away from shirts any time soon. In these times of uncertainty, new daily routines and varied days, some structure and stability can be achieved with a reliable 100% Organic Linen shirt.
