Lots of high-street brands offer new-age thermal under layers with clever technology to keep you warm without overheating. Layer under dresses to get more wear out of your lighter fabrics.

Uniqlo and M&S both do brilliant ribbed merino wool roll-necks in a myriad of colours and stripes. Stock up and layer them under your dresses for instant cosiness and a splash of contrast colour.
Under-Layers
Winter is prime tights season and this year patterned tights are back. Fishnets might not quite be work-appropriate, but elegant dots, chevrons, or even a coloured denier could be just the thing.
Mid-Layers
Knitted vests are the perfect solution to layer over tailored shirts for work-appropriate winter styling. Look for merino or cashmere so they don’t add bulk and play with tonal shades to add interest to your suiting.
