For those with children, it is instilled in us to create a bedtime routine to help them wind-down and allow their bodies and minds to prepare for sleep. And yet somewhere along the way as adults this gets lost and we end up either nodding off in-front of the telly or conversely lying awake staring at the ceiling till the small hours. So, how can we implement our own grown-up bedtime routine? Below we share some tips to try, to help you wind-down and switch off. Plus we also have an edit of nurturing beauty buys to keep on your night-stand to help you drift off and replenish skin, hair and nails whilst your sleep.

5 Tips To Creating A Healthy Bedtime Routine

Healthy Nighttime routine

Try a herbal tea or aromatherapy bath with botanicals proven to calm the mind and the body.

Turn down lights and try to minimise noise an hour before you go to bed to help your mind wind-down.

Spending 10 minutes journalling about your day before you turn off the light can help you digest any whirring thoughts and give you peace of mind for a sound night’s sleep.

Banish any blue-light emitting screens (i.e. your phone) for at least one hour before bed, as they have been proven to disrupt sleep cycles.

Be consistent. Setting the same sleep and wake times each day will help strengthen your circadian rhythms and allow you to drop off and wake up naturally.
