Barely There: Try These Products If You Want To Nail No Make-Up Make-Up
Read this if you want to look super healthy but not overly done. These are the must-have products if you want to perfect subtle, natural make-up.
The no-make-up make-up look is, in fact, a misnomer. Even the barest of faces – as seen on the runway at Chloe and on red carpet from Pamela Andersen and Alicia Keys – have a hint of feature enhancement, whether a sweep of brow gel to tame, or a pinch of colour to enliven cheeks. Perhaps then, the term ‘minimal make-up’ is more apt for this pared-back make-up look, which puts glowing, healthy skin front and centre, with gently enhanced eyes and lips for a relaxed, low-maintenance everyday look this spring.
Clear Brow Gel
Sculptured, strong brows don’t sit well with this look and throw the face’s proportions off balance. Instead, opt for a slick of clear brow gel or pomade to secure hairs neatly and frame the eye.
Tinted Moisturiser
Most people need a little hint of a tint to colour correct, smooth and enliven their skin tone, especially at this time of year. A tinted moisturiser, or cc cream, is just the thing to bring skin to life, whilst still letting its natural texture and character shine through.
Brown Mascara
Brown mascara is having something of a 90s revival. The easy going sister to inky black, it adds just enough definition to lashes to make you look awake and polished, but without looking too ‘done’.
Nude Lips
A simple, pinky nude lipstick shouldn’t be hard to find, but somehow the elusive perfect pink is a tough buy. As everyone’s natural lip colour is completely different, it may take a bit of trial and error to find your ideal shade, but opt for one that simply warms up your natural lip pigment in a lightweight balm or satin texture for a hard-to-detect flush of health.
Tinted Balms
The wash of a tinted multi-use balm is all you need to add a healthy hint of colour to cheeks. Opt for a spring pink, or a summery bronze to warm up skin.
