Matilda recently started her own product line. What had started as a sideline – she was sourcing, framing and selling botanical prints to friends – is now an online business. ‘A few months later, out of frustration for not finding any great lampshades (at a reasonable price point), I set out to create my own with the signature scallop bottom.’ This summer, she will add a line of ceramic and murano glass pieces to the collection. ‘The idea behind my products is to transform a room with the most minimal upheaval and outlay. Here she chooses her five favourite artisans who share their creative talents on Instagram.
La Tuile a Loup
I have a real problem with gathering china and beautiful pieces for the table and this Instagram feed is a constant source of inspiration. Their china, handmade in France is so unique and instantly brings joy to the table. I am particularly lusting over their aptware dining plates.
Antoinette Poisson
I first came across these papers and fabrics based on 18th century French designs at the House and Garden popup shop and were transfixed from the moment I set eyes on them. I just love print and texture and to me there can never be enough - I love how the edges of the prints are finished as though on an original colour sample.
Luke Edward Hall
Even on the dullest day, there is no doubt Luke’s Instagram won’t cheer you up. The London-based illustrator who applies his distinct style to everything from fabrics and ceramics to windows designs and interior projects is talk of the town. He is not shy of colour and print and is part of a new scene bringing maximalism back.
Pigotts Stores
Sadly this store is based in Australia but that doesn’t stop me hankering over all their products on Instagram. They make the most mundane everyday objects desirable. I’m particularly fond of their china rabbit and elephant planters!
Atelier Vime
I am a little wicker obsessed. So when I discovered this Provence based company I was in my element trawling through their feed. It includes the most beautifully crafted furniture and homeware items that have great references to vintage designs.
