Freddie's Flowers

Online subscription boxes offering repeat deliveries of everything from wine and vegetables to cut flowers are big business. One such firm is Freddie's Flowers, created by Freddie Garland who grew up surrounded by flowers; his parents ran a flower shop in Pimlico. After a stint working as a vegetable deliveryman for Abel & Cole, Freddie plotted his business plan. Instead of creating a bricks-and-mortar flower shop, he set up an online flower website delivering weekly and fortnightly boxes of fresh cut flowers (for £20 a pop) to its subscribers. You can’t order one-off bouquets but you can cancel your subscription any time. You are not tied in so none of the worry that concerns commitment-phobes.

Web-savvy, Freddie has embraced the internet and creates weekly guidance videos on his site, Instagram or facebook. With Chelsea Flower Show looming, Freddie scoured his Instagram feed to bring you the best florists to follow during the show.

I love Rachel Dein's intricate work. She is an artist creating botannical art in plaster and concrete. She captures flowers and plants using such an unusual, honest approach. Her feed is full of her delicate, textural floral sculptures and she's exhibiting at Chelsea Flower Show this year.

Ok, so it's a bit cheeky to include my mum but my parents are the inspiration behind Freddie's Flowers. I was practically raised in their flower shop in Pimlico. It made me the man I am today! My mum is a garden designer now and I reckon she takes a cracking photo, too.

Alice Vincent’s Instagram is a wonderful document of growing plants in urban settings. Many of her photos are taken in her high rise London flat. It's great inspiration for the green fingered. Her compositions are interesting.

This is a bit random but I noticed these guys are at Chelsea Flower Show this year and I think they're legends. They create truly magical tree houses, some of rather epic proportions. What a cool job, eh? Their Instagram feed is exciting and energetic. It's almost as if you're there building them with them!
