Edition 94 is the homeware and interiors shop in South Kensington where you will want to buy everything. I first met founder India Whalley as a gallerist at her other business The Dot Project, an art gallery which occupied the same corner of the fulham road until September 2018. Living around the corner I used to regularly walk past, until one day I noticed a change in the window and her curated homeware and interiors edit Edition 94 had arrived!

An interior designer by trade, Whalley began her career decorating other people’s houses and then launched a gallery called the Dot Project to showcase talented artists. She has since relocated the gallery into her home, and continues to run it by-appointment-only.

Now India spends her days sourcing vintage treasures in flea markets in England, France, and further and collaborating with artists to design bespoke pieces for her website and shop.

On a whim, one weekend at a Paris antiques market, Whalley bought a set of Murano glasses she stumbled upon and back in London displayed them on an old bookshelf in the empty shop. They sold out in a week and she kept building the collection from there. Everything is both on-trend and immaculate.

Now Edition 94 sells everything you need to add beautiful touches to your home, from pretty accessories to retro furniture, from marbled lampshades and opalescent vases. Raffia and linens, scalloped ceramics and murano glassware. She is also passionate about finding and recycling vintage pieces. There is something for every interior style and budget.

Sourcing items from around the world – including the Philippines, Portugal, Ireland and India this ensures diversity and a constant change. I especially love these beautifully coloured hand woven palm placemats from Columbia.

In fact, these have been a best seller, and when India noticed how popular placemats were, she was inspired to launch ‘On The Table’, creating tablescape sets ready and available to buy in full, to lay yourself at home.

A lot of the homeware stocked is made by artists, so although Edition 94 is proving profitable, her goal is to champion sustainability and support artists. Another thing I immediately want to buy is an assortment of multicoloured spiral candles.

Last year Edition 94 hosted a series of fun pottery workshops, bringing locals and new customers into the shop to learn on their own wheels and create a totally unique piece. Let’s hope they continue again this year. Sign me up!
