Is lockdown messing with your get-up-and-go? And is it any wonder? It’s cold. We can’t go out. Our children’s educations are in our hands (poor lambs), while we remain surgically attached to our laptops trying to work at the same time. Coffee, then, is big right now. Bigger than it’s ever been in our lives. Whether our hit comes in the form of a takeaway café-style brew from the kiosks we’ve come to think of as our very close friends, or we are busy downing cafetière after cafetière at home, we need the caffeine right now as we navigate our lives. Sure, we know it’s not the best thing for galloping insomnia (another favourite lockdown side effect), but mornings wouldn’t be the same (or even possible) without it. And if we are to consume rivers of the hot stuff, then we need all the trappings: lovely mugs, stylish cafetière, gorgeous grinders. Call us covetous, but it’s the small things getting us through right now – and we’ll take our hits of pleasure, just like our hits of caffeine, wherever and whenever we can get them.
