Five years ago, Irish designer, Rae Feather, launched her eponymous resort and lifestyle brand. It started as a ready-to-wear label selling cottons, cashmere and linens with accessories as an add-on. Today, it is the Instagram-popular monogrammed baskets and pom-pom bags that have made her famous; Forbes recently described Rae as a ‘pioneer in the phenomenon of personalisation.’
Before setting up this business, the mother-of-three worked in sports marketing for Formula One, and in the luxury travel market where clients included Sandy Lane in Barbados. Today, Rae talks about YouTube singing, wearing Birkenstocks with socks this Spring and her favourite activity tracker.
My favourite website… I have so many favourites. I love some of the luxury brands such as Prada, Gucci and I love the use of unusual celebrities featured on the Burberry site. I like Zara for style inspiration. I’m house obsessed so I nosey on the property site Rightmove. I travel so much so I like Skyscanner to look for best flight options.
My favourite app… Trainline - Boring may be, but essential for me! I also like the activity tracker Steps as I like to know how much I walk daily.
My blogs of choice… I really like astylealbum by Louise Redknapp and Emma Thatcher, Wardrobe Icons by Laura Fantacci and The Frugality by Alex Stedman. I have lots of favourite bloggers; there are too many to mention.
My internet heroes… All those people who can not sing a note yet put themselves up on YouTube singing really badly - RESPECT!
My favourite podcasts... Desert Island Discs and How I Built This.
My most recent buy online… A pair of brown suede Birkenstocks from Toast - I am going to wear them with socks in spring.
Book just read… The Swimmer by Roma Tearne - It’s a great, great read.
Favourite tweeter… I don’t tweet - sorry!
Favourite instagrammer… I like Polly Vernon and Dolly Alderton.
Social media allowed me to meet… So many people. I have huge fondness for a few including Roohi Jaikishan who is a beautiful Indian lady based in Mumbai. She has style to burn, a beautiful heart. We have met for drinks in New York and I recently visited her home in Mumbai. Online, I have met so many bloggers, celebs and normal people; most have been lovely and generous with compliments.
Most worthwhile newsletter subscribed to… I like a few. Toast newsletters are lovely.
Pet hate about life online… When people overshare all elements of their life. It is not necessary and let's be honest, not interesting.
Stand out online memory… Thank you messages from so many customers. They all stand out and make me happy.
