With 1.1m followers, London make-up artist, Nikki Wolff has a warm, chatty approach in her Insta Stories tutorials. Working on shoots for magazines including Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, Esquire and Harpers Bazaar she has really earned her following, translating what she has learnt painting the faces of the supers into a beautifully, polished signature look that makes even us mortals glow. Often working with ex Glamour Beauty Director, Alessandra Steinherr (another great one to follow) as her guinea pig in the make-up chair, she demonstrates how to do all the basics, from an eyelash flick to a classic red lip. Known for her own killer brows and mane of beautiful curls, she’s a great, unintimidating one to watch. She’s also created a lash collaboration range with Sweed lashes – perfect timing for the party season.
Nyma Tang
Twenty eight-year-old Nyma Tang made a name for herself on YouTube with 1.1m subscribers, thanks to her hit series, ‘The Darkest Shade’, in which she reviewed beauty brands’ darkest shades of foundation and concealer – and found many lacking. The child of South Sudanese immigrants and raised in Texas, Tang is a great follow if you are frustrated at the limited spectrum of not only bases, but make-up ranges in general, and the lack of availability for all complexions. She is using her platform positively to push for greater inclusion and understanding for darker-skinned women, plus she provides great tips and reviews of the brands and products that are stepping up to the mark.
Wayne Goss
A breath of fresh air in both the beauty and vlogging world, make-up artist, Wayne Goss takes a real, straight-forward approach, offering up achievable ‘how-to’ tutorials that are both on-trend, but that will also work for a range of complexions, face shapes and skin types. There’s no ‘one-palette-fits-all’ approach for his 2.5m subscribers and he offers candid product reviews as well as realistic, everyday looks you don’t need to be a supermodel to pull off. There’s a great mix of skincare, as well as make-up videos to ensure you’ve got your canvas primed and ready to go, as well as a touch of comedy, just in case you started taking this make-up lark too seriously.
Lisa Eldridge
London-based make-up artist, Lisa Eldridge is, perhaps, the original beauty vlogger. Having worked with celebrities from Kate Winslet to Emma Watson and Keira Knightley, she knows her way around a palette (and a beautiful face), and is the ‘go-to’ for glamorous, beautiful party make-up, with a classic twist. The queen of the smoky eye and red lip tutorial, she makes it look effortless and always eminently achievable. She’s also creative director of Boots No 7 and often includes more affordable price point products, as well as designer brands.
Sali Hughes
Former make-up artist, turned beauty journalist and broadcaster, Sali Hughes hosts ‘In the bathroom with’ on YouTube, where she quizzes celebrities in their own smallest rooms about their lives, careers and beauty regimes, from Aerin Lauder to Drew Barrymore and Lily Allen. Over on her Instagram IGTV she trains her expert eye on the latest beauty buzz and is a go-to for the definitive verdict on the latest ‘must-have’ brand, where she can always be relied on for an honest, frank appraisal. She is also a great educator on the jargon and lingo of the beauty world, breaking it down and explaining the hype, in real terms.
